Went into the city today with Bern. Luv the city!! And it was such a beautiful day. The sky really is that blue. Managed to see the Bridge and the Opera House. (Jorn Utzon is a genius!) Will have to go back there and catch some shows. Also took a short walk through the botanical gardens. Plan to see the MCA, (Ugo Rondinone's Our Magic Hour and The Stage of Drawing:Gesture & Act from the Tate Collection seem interesting), check out the State Library and catch some films at Dendy in the next few weeks.
Oh, and the people! So many people! Friendly people! Tall, beautiful people! And I'm not talking about inner beauty. I'm once again the little Asian boy who's not taller than the people around me. But a small price to pay to feel and see all this energy and gorgeousness around you.
Laksa for dinner. And Shaoling Soccer for entertainment.

Finally home after 48 hours of utter madness!! The packing went worse than expected and I had to rush around like a monkey on speed. Didn't even have time to clean up the place. The poor guy moving in after me won't be too impressed. But really thanks and thanks again to the Carrolls for saving my butt. Sent about a dozen boxes home and that cost more than a penny. So glad I got money instead of chopstics for going away pressies.
Had to change at the airport and in the frenzy of packing, I had managed to not pack a single pair of socks. Good one. With the lack of sleep, my screwed up shoulder (from the fall during the packing), now I limp as well. All with too many bags. Feel like the Hunchback of Notredame. After check-in (10kg over limit, but no charge. Yeah!), had a nice tempura dinner with Miyoko and a few others. Then rushed off to the plane drenched in sweat. Really appreciated the teachers who came to say goodbye even tho we didn't have much time to talk. And Masaru aniki, okini for being my bellboy. :)
The flight wasn't too bad but I didn't know I had to transfer at Brissie. Bought a pair of R.M. Williams socks. (Still limping.) The salesgirl said she liked my Weiss tie. And she called me darling. Can't ever get enough of the friendliness here. (Or was I still halucinating?) No fuss at customs in Sydney. Already had my first non-Japanese meal. Pho at Flemington. Anyway, back at last to blue skies, green trees and red terracotta roofs. I'm going to sleep a lot and eat a lot for the next few weeks.

The school office guy just came to check my place and I still had all this crap all over the house. Think he had expected the place to be cleaned by today. Oops. Well, will definitely be done by the end of the day. Prob won't get much sleep but will do that on the plane. Thank God it's a direct flight.
Taking a break from this packing madness. Not going to deny the fact that I am a hoarder. It drives people crazy, I know, but I don't want to deal with that right now. But have decided to get a smaller place next time. And one with real carpets and a flushing toilet.
